Afterwards, he successfully completed the Canadian Standard Assessment in Optometry (CSAO) in 2006 and obtained a practicing status from the College of Optometrists of Ontario and the College of Optometrists of British Columbia in Canada. Dr. Ng had been employed by the School of Optometry of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) as a clinician and senior clinical teaching faculty for more than 15 years. He was extensively involved in clinical and didactic teaching in the University with the subjects related to clinical optometry, ocular pathology and pharmacology, co-management for patients with diabetic retinopathy, advanced contact lens practice, and orthokeratology. For nearly two decades, Dr. Ng has served as an accomplished clinical educator in the optometry internship program at the PolyU, mentoring and assessing local students and residents, as well as optometry interns from Canada, Australia, and the United States. Dr. Ng was a part-time online lecturer for the undergraduate Optometry program in the School of Optometry of the PolyU from 2021 to 2023. Dr. Ng earned a Certificate of Attainment in Orthokeratology Practice issued by the School of Optometry of the PolyU in 2004. Furthermore, Dr. Ng was awarded fellowship member status from the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) in 2005 and the British Contact Lens Association (FBCLA) in 2006. From 2011 to 2012, Dr. Ng was elected to be the president of the Hong Kong Society of Professional Optometrists. Dr. Ng was appointed as one of the panel members of the Quality Assurance Committee in the College of Optometrists of Ontario from 2020 to 2023. Dr. Ng has participated and presented academic papers in many international optometry conferences and continuing education courses in the US, UK, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan as well as Mainland China. Besides, Dr. Ng has published articles in peer reviewed journals such as the Optometry and Vision Science, the Contact Lens & Anterior Eye, and the Clinical and Experimental Optometry. Dr. Ng’s clinical interests include primary care optometry, myopia management and control, treatment and management of eye diseases, and specialty contact lens fitting including orthokeratology. He has successfully fitted and managed more than 400 orthokeratology cases during his professional practice. Dr. Ng has currently established his own optometric corporation and is actively practicing optometry in the city of Richmond in British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Ng’s language proficiency levels for professional working include English and Cantonese (fluent) as well as Mandarin (conversational).
